EXPERIENCE:

2006-Present         Manager and Ecological Modeller, Raven Enterprises, LLC, Fort Collins, Colorado.

Continue to enhance the design and implementation of an ecosystem dynamics simulation model (EDYS). Current aspects of design include enhanced user interface capabilities, development of a "light" version for use as a screening-level tool for addressing environmental impacts of land management decisions, and further linkage with surface water models.

2001-2006             Ecological Modeller, MWH Global, Fort Collins, Colorado.

Coordinate the development of an ecosystem dynamics simulation model. Specific areas of development focus on animal population dynamics, animal habitat selection, GIS linkages, natural resource management options, and user interfaces.

Conducted habitat evaluations and surveys for terrestrial wildlife threatened and endangered species and species of concern. Developed and implemented a riparian habitat assessment protocol for a variety of terrestrial vertebrate species. It is a screening-level assessment tool designed to allow rapid evaluation of habitat potential. Although originally developed for use in southeastern Idaho for two amphibian species, 31 bird species, and 17 mammalian species, it can easily be expanded for additional areas and species.

1998-2001             Ecological Modeller, Shepherd Miller, Inc., Fort Collins, Colorado.
Assist in the design and implementation of an ecosystem dynamics simulation model. Specific areas of development focused on animal population dynamics, animal habitat selection, GIS linkages, military training impacts, natural resource management options, and user interfaces. Also conducted habitat evaluations and surveys for threatened and endangered terrestrial wildlife species.

1996-1998             Field Technician, Arkansas Breeding Bird Atlas, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Surveyed a variety of habitats for evidence of breeding by all species.

1997                      Graduate Research Assistant, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.

Conducted data analysis on a Golden-cheeked Warbler/avian predator database, wrote reports, and prepared manuscripts.

1996-1997             Graduate Teaching Assistant, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.
Taught labs for courses in General Ornithology, emphasizing anatomy, morphology, field identification, systematics, and conservation of birds.

1996                      Graduate Research Assistant, Texas Cooperative Wildlife Collection, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.

Designed and implemented a computer database for the bird division of the museum.

1993-1996             Graduate Research Assistant, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.

Designed and coordinated a research program investigating the interactions of avian predators and endangered Golden-cheeked Warblers in Travis County, Texas. Looked at behavioral aspects of interactions and spatial relationships of potential predators and warblers. Investigated relationships of predators and warblers to various types of human disturbance. Responsible for supervision of 25 field technicians, overseeing the project budget, and coordinating our activities with private landowners and agency biologists.

1991-1992             Graduate Teaching Assistant, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.

Taught labs for courses in Field Ornithology and General Ornithology, emphasizing anatomy, morphology, field identification, systematics, and conservation of birds. Also taught labs for a course in Basic Ecology.

1991                      Graduate Research Assistant, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.

Assisted in avian diversity study of Big Bend Ranch State Natural Area and the North Rosillos Mountains of Big Bend National Park. Duties included banding and conducting transect surveys in a variety of habitat types.

1989                      Avian Surveillance Technician, Harris County Mosquito Control District, Houston, TX
Mist-netted and banded a variety of bird species and drew blood samples to test for the incidence of St. Louis encephalitis antibodies.

1983-1987             Computer Systems Analyst, Professional Geophysics Inc., Plano, TX

Installed, maintained, and optimized operating system software, device drivers, and seismic application software for a variety of computer systems. Secondary duties included hardware maintenance and system documentation.
